Insured Certain insurers allow a discount if you have had insurance on this or another owned vessel in the preceding 12 months.
Insurer We are insurance brokers and we deal with many different insurers. If you tell us who insures you now we will not approach them.
Lay-up dates Tell us approximately the dates you will start and finish. For example :October 1 to January 31" is better than "October to January". You get a bigger credit and you can always change the dates during the policy period.

Navigation limits for the next twelve months?

Where will you use your boat in the next 12 months?

Where will you keep your boat IN COMMISSION?

When you answer this question do not include places you "might" go to in a year or two. The reason we say this is because many cruisers think long term and ask for quotations to include all the places they want to visit, e.g. if you are going to Europe and will visit the Azores, the Canaries, coastal Europe and the Mediterranean indicate that as your cruising area. Even if you plan to return after one year to the Caribbean and the USA this would not be included in the next twelve months itinerary. Underwriters will charge you for the maximum cruising area and if you do not go there is no refund.
We actually receive requests for Navigation Area listed as "Everywhere". To an Underwriter this means from North to South Pole in the next twelve months, is not very helpful to us and is very expensive.
If you are cruising show "Your Home Port and your present cruising grounds in transit" for the next 12 months

Changes in cruising plans. We can usually accommodate changes in cruising plans so don't think your Navigation Limits are cast in stone.
Where will you keep your boat when NOT in use-laid-up NOT in commission This means when you leave her, go somewhere else or store her a season (Hurricane, winter, etc.) and come back later. If you are cruising and you will layup somewhere as yet undetermined, mark "In transit-Layup to be advised". For others that return more or less to the same place after use, indicate that usual place.
Years as Charter Operator How many years have you acted as a charter captain or as a mate on a charter boat?
